Rules of the game

The rules are very simple and kept to a minimum

1.
You can enter one race per day.
If you enter a second race, for the same day, PG Race will automatically withdraw you from the other race you had entered. You can enter multiple races, so long as they are activated for different days.

2.
Tasks can be Uploaded, Activated, Entered and your IGCs uploaded (in this order) at any time on the same day as the race. The time you enter an Active task (Declaration) is shown in the results table.

3.
PG Race doesn't care about multiple take-offs

4.
Take-off windows are not supported currently, (as they can't be shared via QR code), but might be in future.

5.
Live-tracking is highly recommended and encouraged when flying PG Race tasks

6.
There is no Meet Director, Safety Committee or Marshall to tell you what to do. There is no one to cancel the task because the sky is about to go BOOM.

On a pop-up task, arranged via PG Race, you are entirely on your own, and responsible for your own flying choices.

Race Terminology

Waypoint

A Waypoint is a place on earth

A Waypoint has a Name, Latitude, Longitude and Altitude above sea level (in metres AMSL)

Turnpoint

A Turnpoint is a Waypoint in a Task

A Turnpoint has a centre and a radius

Task

A Task is a list of Turnpoints from takeoff to Goal, in order

Race Type

The Race Type, can either be Elapsed-time or Race

Race means you all start at the same time

Elapsed-time means each pilot has a personal timer, recording their own time around the course

Start of Speed Section (SSS)

This is the Turnpoint circle where the race starts

To start the race you must either Enter or Exit the SSS circle

Start of Speed Section Time : This is the time of day the race starts

End of Speed Section (ESS)

This is the Turnpoint circle where the race ends

You must land before Land by time

Goal !

Goal is the last Turnpoint and can either be defined by a Cylinder or a Line.

How it works

Live Task Activation

A Task does not have a Date and become Live until it is Activated on PG Race.

On PG Race all Tasks have a unique Task ID

Live Tasks are activated for a particular Date.

Live Tasks are assigned a new, unique Active Task ID by PG Race.

Task File Names

Task file names ("*.xctsk") and tasks themselves must be unique on PG Race, to avoid complete confusion. If you upload a task with a filename which already exists on PG Race, yours will be rejected.

Likewise, if you upload a task identical to one already uploaded, with a different file name, yours will be rejected. You will, however, be shown the details of the file it clashed with.

Hence always make your task filenames as descriptive as possible. If another pilot has already uploaded the same task you wanted to upload, simply use theirs.

Remember tasks can be filtered by parts of their filename. If you just want tasknames that include Annecy, put "Annecy" in your task filter (in App Settings).

Tasks can also be filtered by proximity to you. For example, just set 'Filter by distance' to 'Show Tasks < 200km' (in App Settings).

Scoring

Because of the way Time-Based Scoring (TBS) works, your score and ranking is ONLY affected by pilots who got to goal earlier than you, or flew further if you land short.

Interim task results can be seen at any time, based on who has sent their IGCs in so far.

Please be prompt in submitting your flight IGC, so the scoring & results can be finalised in a reasonable time.

If you didn't fly the task, or don't want to be scored, please click the "Live Tasks" option "Withdraw from Live Task / Did not fly (DNF)"
